Oriol Saña play a G&Fills one piece Purplehart violin.

Born in Granollers, Oriol began his violin studies at the conservatory Josep Maria Ruera of Granollers with Emilio Moreno, continuing them in Barcelona with Sergio Prieto and at the Professional Conservatory of Terrassa.

Awarded scholarships by various organizations, including the Rotary Club and Berklee College of Music, he moved to the United States to further his studies at the Berklee College of Music (Boston) where graduated Cum Laude in Jazz Performance, majoring in improvisation techniques for stringed instruments. He studied orchestral conducting (Boston Conservatory), and the direction and production of film sound tracks, composition and arrangements in Nashville (Tennessee) at the Warner Brothers studios.

His musical career developed combining work in both the classical and popular music fields. Therefore, he has been a member not only of symphony orchestras (Boston Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, Brookline Symphony Orchestra, National Youth Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia, Granollers Chamber Orchestra) but of popular music groups as well, such as the Simple ones, Coyote Dax, Manu Tenorio, Flamenco Kamerata.

He has collaborated on more than twenty CDs (with Loquillo, Fangoria and Carlos Segarra) and participated in numerous music festivals in the USA, Singapore, Italy, Germany, France. In Spain, he has played at the Spanish Jazz Festival of Barcelona 2002, the 10th Lleida Jazz Festival, the 13th Jazz Hour Festival (in memory of Tete Montliu) and the 4th and 5th International Jazz Seminars of Zarautz.

Recently, he directed and produced the "From Rock to Heavy Metal" project with the Granollers Chamber Orchestra and Virus String Quartet, and recorded the sound track to "El final que te espera", nominated for a Goya prize. He is currently professor of jazz violin and the pop music ensemble at the " Escola Superior de Musica de Catalunya" (ESMUC) and a co-founding member of the Virus String.
